'Ecco's Family' was the first of a batch of new tracks that Apparatus Of Sleep wrote as a three piece this year and is part of the current set they play live.
The song is based entirely around the 16-bit video game that hypnotized them as children, a nostalgic salute to the old fashioned video games helped inspire the band's approach to instrumental song-writing.
Bio:
Apparatus Of Sleep are a 3 piece instrumental electronic rock band based in Nottingham formed in 2008.
They're modus operandi is to hypnotize audiences with a unpredictable sound that features the subtlety and melody of shoegaze and post-rock, the all-out aural assault of math/noise/stoner rock, and the pulsing, cathartic energy and sub-bass of electronic music.
Unbound by the drags that are genres and trends, AOS have carved their own path through the UK underground circuit and now with the addition of a live drummer, have their sights firmly set on blowing a big pretty hole in the heart of 2012.
"It’s astounding that a trio can straddle such a huge sound that encompasses shoegaze, electronica and post-rock." - Notts About Dance
"Relentless. Drawing from the same well as 65daysofstatic but bashing the individual elements into a massive sound that they can call their own. Their consistent brutality and heaviness sets them apart from many post-rock bands, with their weapons of choice being more along the lines of sludge and doom." - Ant Whitton Leftlion
"It's nice to see a band aim so firmly for the stratosphere" -
KilltheOutlaws.com
"The night, at least for us, ends with the brutal reverb of Apparatus of Sleep, whose arresting IDM/shoegaze fusion and reverb-heavy sound veers from a laptop-wielding My Bloody Valentine to a dub Fields, via Broken Social Scene and Glasvegas." - This City Magazine
